The new Tesla Roadster was unveiled on October 15, 2026, and Tesla says production is planned for 2028, so there is no confirmed delivery date yet. It is not on sale as a finished car in 2026. Meanwhile, you can make a Roadster ramp video on Tesla AI Video. We are not affiliated with Tesla, SpaceX or Elon Musk.
When does the Tesla Roadster come out?
The only date Tesla has given for the car itself is 2028, as a production plan. The 2026 event was an unveiling and a demo of the car at a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas, not a delivery launch.
What is the Roadster timeline?
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| 2017 | The Roadster is first shown; Tesla says deliveries will start in 2020. |
| 2020 | The promised delivery year. The car is not delivered. |
| Sept 28, 2026 | The event planned for October 1 in Waco is postponed because of forecast severe weather. |
| Oct 1, 2026 | The original Waco date passes. |
| Oct 15, 2026 | Tesla unveils the new Roadster at a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas: curved ramp, upside-down climb, launch, flip and landing. |
| 2028 | Production is planned. |
What is unconfirmed?
- A delivery date: none is guaranteed. 2028 is a plan for production.
- Which version ships first, and when: not stated in the facts we rely on.
- A final price: none announced. See Tesla Roadster price.
- Road legality: nothing confirmed.
- Rocket version figures: Tesla claims, not verified.
Given the 2017 promise of 2020, it is sensible to hold 2028 loosely. That is an observation about the record, not a prediction.
What can I do with the Roadster now?
You cannot buy or take delivery yet, but the demo itself is the trend people are copying. If you are curious whether the footage is genuine, see is the Tesla Roadster real or AI. For the stunt, read the flying car explainer. To get your own 12-second ramp video from one photo, pick a ride on the rides page, read about the trend, or start your video. It is AI parody and not official Tesla footage.
